Red Roses for Me - 40th Anniversary Edition
On 15th October 1984, The Pogues released their debut album 'Red Roses For Me'. To celebrate the 40th anniversary, we'll be releasing a 2CD set with a version of the 2013 remix plus a bonus disc of B-sides and BBC sessions from 1984. After four decades, āRed Roses For Meā is still celebrated as a groundbreaking debut album from an unlikely group of supposed neāer-do-wells from Londonās Kings Cross in the convulsive aftermath of the re-election of the Thatcher government. The album mashes traditional songs and instrumentals - about death and drink, love and London - with those of frontman Shane MacGowan's - and all fuelled by the punk ethos.
