Clarence Fountain, born in Tyler, Alabama in 1929, was a founding member and leader of the Blind Boys of Alabama, a legendary gospel group formed in 1939. Despite losing his sight in infancy, Fountain's deep, soulful voice and charismatic leadership propelled the Blind Boys to international acclaim.
